Matchbox MB716 : Ridge Raider (2007 Basic Range)
First released in 2007 the Matchbox MB716 : Ridge Raider is a great example of how Matchbox can do a generic model right. For nearly 15 years now this model as appeared in the Matchbox lineup, in fact the latest outing is the 30th variation of the casting.
In the time we have seen this casting it has appeared countless times in the annual basic range, as well as 5 packs, 10 packs & playsets; as yet it has not been used in what you would call a premium range.

The casting was retooled in 2018 to be re-issued as MB1131 as part of that years Color Changers lineup. To allow for the colour changing abilities the base was now the cast metal component and the body as cast in plastic.
The latest version is part of the recently released MBX Rally II 5 pack, although its a new release and a distinct separate variation the design is one that we have seen before as it was used on the 2010 Basic range variant, so like a lot of current models if you think you have seen it before, you have.
