At the beginning of 2020 the world was hit by the Covid-19 pandemic, a problem that would effect the entire planet.  Mattel to their credit decided to raise funds by creating various toy releases to commend and honor those in society that continued to help and support their communities during the height of the pandemic.  From emergency workers to the front line staff that kept food supplies available they were all honoured with these great new designs; among the toys released to do this Mattel had special releases of Uno the card game, some Fisher Price branded toys and of course this fantastic set under the Matchbox banner.

Released in limited numbers on pre-order basis only these will surely become a much sought after item in the coming years but if you; like me were not fortunate enough to get one here is the set and its individual models for you to admire.  The first vehicle in the range was the SB-86 Airblade helicopter form the Skybusters range; this model in its grey & blue TV News design was aimed at those that worked tirelessly to bring the news & information that we all needed to keep up to date with exactly what was happening in our local areas and further afield.

Next up was the MB1091 International eStar Delivery Van with its stylised shopping cart design as a tribute to the shop workers that kept the food supply chain running so we could get what we needed to survive including some of the most sought after items like toilet paper & pasta.

Of course no global problem can be dealt with effectively without the help of our local police forces and they have certainly not been forgetten here with the inclusion of the MB1179 Ford Interceptor, its outing for this set is a generic Police design that would be stereotypical on the streets of the USA and recognised anywhere in the world as that of the Police.

Next is the MB742 Garbage King in Yellow & White, as generic models go this is a beauty and well deserved to be a part of this collection as is the MB1176 International Ambulance again a generic design but one that is very lifelike and reminiscent of any ambulance used to help out during the pandemic.

The last two vehicles in the collection are the Scania Tactical Command truck in the livery of a mobile hospital and lastly the MB813 Express Delivery van to thank those who worked throughout the pandemic delivering our every request right to the door.

Overall this is a great set and well done to Mattel for getting this organised, its a shame that it wasnt more available and in more markets than just online to the USA but it was done like most things during the height of the pandemic in a rush with no warning, so job well done.
