RW040 : Cement Truck

Matchbox Working Rigs RW040 : Cement TruckLooking at another Matchbox Working Rigs model today and to be honest this one is a little cheeky model form the team at Mattel. Firstly I will say that I like it, but then I have a tendency to like all the larger scale models because of that better detail and the Cement Truck is no exception.

I love the livery of this outing with its RWR Concrete Co. logo, a lovely little nod to the fact it is a Real Working Rig. The choice of colours is not over stated which works well for the model as well.

But why do I say this model is a little bit cheeky?

Well thats got nothing to do with the livery, or the overall look and feel of the model because that has been very well executed, the cheekiness comes in the fact that this model is a Matchbox Original Cement Truck; or is it?
Although this is only the second outing for the RW040 casting we have seen the model before, and no I am not saying that as there is one other RW040 model. No, I am saying that because this model was originally released as RW001 the very first of the Real Working Rigs from back in 2009; only then it was a license model of the 2007 Mercedes-Benz Actros. Am I wrong? you be the judge

Sure the cab is slightly different, probably just enough to not draw the attention of the lawyers at Mercedes-Benz but its very clear; to me at least, where the inspiration came from for this generic model.
