02A : Muir Hill Dumper
|Matchbox Catalog Entry:||02A|
Way back in 1953 Matchbox released the first of a few versions of the Muir-Hill Dumper. This first outing was just 1 5/8” in length being the first outing, it would later be re-released in 1958 at 1/4” longer and then again in a whole new format for 1962 at now 2 1/6” in length. For today we will just look at the first smaller release.
When first produce the base had the wheels already attached and for those early models the metal wheels are also painted in the same green colour as the body. After some production the method was changed and the wheels where then attached later so they would remain unpainted creating a nice variation for those that collect these models.
The baseplate text as was common on these early models simply had the words Lesney England cast.
