Another generic that is very closely based on a real vehicle, at first sight in 2020 when it appeared in the Basic range at #03 I thought like many others that this was a crazy looking generic vehicle but then upon looking in to it I found that it was actually very much like a real vehicle, a company in the US called Olli has created a 3D printed all electric bus which to me is clearly where the Mattel designers took their inspiration from.

The first outing for this casting was last year in blue & white and for 2021 we find the MB1212 MBX Self Driving bus in a black & gold combination at #28 of the basic range. The colour choice for me seems a little to comical and for a modern style bus I would think a more subdued scheme would suit it better as evidenced from its first outing last year.

The other aspect I dont think is quite right is the choice of the 5 Spoke modern wheels in gold, for the chosen colour scheme gold wheels was a reasonably expected choice but I think this model would maybe be better suited with a less sporty wheel like the ringed disc.

Overall for what it is I think the design is OK and is a good generic representation of what the future may hold when it comes to automated public transport but its certainly not my favourite model, but then neither would the real thing be.
