MB72-B : SRN6 Hovercraft
Over the many years that Matchbox have been around there has always been some great non car vehicles in the lineup. Mattel have them today just as Lesney had them nearly 50 years ago.
In 1972 Lesney released this great SRN6 Hovercraft as part of the Matchbox basic range or as it was titled back then ”Matchbox Superfast”; positioned at number 72 in the Superfast range it remained in the lineup until 1978 when it was replaced with the Bomag Road Roller for the 1979 Sueprfast lineup.

The casting had only a few changes over the years, there were different colour hulls (Black or Tan); one of the more hidden changes was the wheels, they could be plain black or 5 spoke but then as they are hidden its hard to see them and of course Lesney would have just put whatever wheels on a model like this without design approval just to keep the production line running.
