Matchbox MB867 : Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 Polizia
What is the team at Mattel or more specifically Matchbox thinking with the creation of the MBX Airport 5 pack for this year (2021)? I like the idea of the theme and it certainly has some nice vehicles in it to make up the 5 Matchbox castings to complete the set like the Lamborghini and the Toyota Prius Taxi but none of the five chosen vehicles are original or even new.

Along with the aforementioned Lambo & Toyota we also see three ”Matchbox Original” castings in the form of the Swift Shuttle, MBX Tanker & my personal favourite the Runway Wrangler but again nothing new in any of them.
The Lamborghini was originally released as a 9 pack exclusive in 2019, this I wrote about in more detail the other day. The Prius Taxi is from last years basic range and the 2018 Metro Transit 5 pack is where you will find the Swift Shuttle.

For the Petrol Pumper you have to look further back in the catalogue where you will find it as part of a 2008 10 Pack as well as Skybusters set from the same year. The last one is the Runway Wrangler and that comes from a 9 pack as well as the 2016 basic range and for me is the biggest disappointment of the set because we have only seen this casting twice so a missed opportunity to get a 3rd variation on such a great casting.
