Matchbox MB1208 : LEVC LX Taxi (2020 Basic Range)

A classic London black cab has long been a great addition to the Matchbox lineup, there has been one in the lineup on and off for many decades now and its great to see that tradition continue with this new LEVC LX Taxi that you can see regularly driving the streets of London.

The model itself first saw the light of day in the 2020 basic range in the classic black as you would expect and wish for and the updated version was certainly welcomed by most.

Unfortunately after its initial release is where the love for this model ends, in reality the London Cab now comes in a multitude of colours so there is no reason that Mattel could not issue this casting in a range of colour choices but instead they have continued to release the same casting in a multitude of ranges without any changes.
For me if you are going to do this, then leave it in the basic range at the same number as was the practice by Lesney and that system worked well and to be honest it should happen for this and all other basic range models.

What Mattel have chosen to do is for me at least just not acceptable and only goes to cheapen the brand because not only has this casting been used across multiple years but the real problem lies in the fact that the same model with no changes or improvements has also been used in the UK Collection which is sold as a premium range

The casting can also be found in a selection of 9 packs as well which indicates a vast over use of the casting.
