MB1216 : Renault Kangoo Express

Matchbox MB1216 : Renault Kangoo Express (France Collection)

The Renault Kangoo Express to date (July 2021) has featured twice this year, firstly in the ”France Collection” in a bright Yellow Bureau De Poste livery and the second in the 2021 basic range at #30 in a brown Locksmith livery.

The French release is quite a nice one and its great to see some regional variations released although for me it would be better if they were made available everywhere not just in the target country.  As a child I found Matchbox to be a great way for me to learn about other cars and other places in the world so as an adult I think this is a missed opportunity from an education point of view

The basic range version looks great as well with its Matchbox designed ”Locksmith” livery; this one sits perfectly in the basic range and for me is a great addition. The only problem I have is of course the lack of an interior, this seems to becoming more and more common and I dont think is a good direction for Mattel to take the Matchbox brand forward. In my opinion it cheapens the look and feel of the model and is another example of the accountants at Mattel insisting on cost saving measure which in the end will only harm the product.
