Matchbox MB1241 : 1953 Buick Skylark (2021 Basic Range)
Another new release for 2021 and its a real cracker! I have always loved the classic cars like this and something that I have never seen in the flesh is a welcome addition to the collection. The fact that these classic cars are in the range is surely a good sign that Mattel want to look after the collecting community as the kids for the most part will not recognise a car from the 1950s
For me its a bit of a bitter sweet moment when I find one of the classic casting because I like to add them to the collection but would far prefer if they were done in a larger scale like the ‘Models of Yesteryear‘ series, they just suit that range so much better and doing so would allow for even more detail.

As it stands, the classic car lover has to be content with the smaller scale but you will not be disappointed at all. The Matchbox designers have manged to capture quite a lot of detail in such a small scale and this really is a sight to behold. The lines along the sides have been expertly picked out with the tampo print but sadly that means no detail printed on the front or rear.
