Talk about value for money, this casting must rank up there as one of the best money earners for Mattel that they have ever produced. Sitting at #11 in this years (2021) range of Matchbox Real Working Rigs is the Freightliner M2 106 Vacuum Septic Truck and if you think you have seen it before then you are right.

This casting in this livery first appear back in 2012 and was again used in the 2015 Working Rigs lineup and now of course we see it again in 2021; now I am all for re-visiting a livery as a nod to the past, I can even accept that there is no discernible changes if this was a customary way of releasing models like Lesney did back when Matchbox was truly the greatest name in diecast. At least back in the Lesney days a car would retain the same colour, look & livery sometimes for years before being retired; but this has not been a practive for many many years and certainly not under the stewardship of Mattel

But this to me just seems lazy and another example of cost saving.

I love the casting, as I have written in the last few days, these larger castings are so good and this is no exception; in fact possibly better than others as its a real licensed model and like other Working Rigs castings with lots of play value but I think it might be time for a new livery
