Matchbox MB1226 : ’19 Ford Mustang Coupe (2021 Basic Range #2)

What is going on at Mattel?  This casting is only relatively new being first released last year but it certainly must be popular with the team that make the decisions on inclusion as this is its 5th outing in just over 12 months.  Now nothing wrong with that, when you are on to a good thing stick to it and this new racing design is brilliant.  I love the realistic racing design and the inclusion of a real motoring logo in the form of the Brembo logo at the back really makes it look the stuff.

What I dont understand is why is it again in the basic range? Like the Porsche 914 we looked at the other day this is not the first outing in the 2021 basic range, we first saw it earlier in the year at #31 in a fantastic shade of blue and now this version at #82. Is it because another casting wasnt ready? if so what is going on at Mattel for that to happen multiple times in the one model year? and more importantly what casting did we miss out on?
