A missed opportunity is the best way to describe this one. From a design stand point you really cant fault the model, its a great looking car and one that would look right at home in a child’s play room, a diorama or a collectors display.  The model choice is fantastic, a good solid work vehicle; a modern vehicle that can easily be seen on any road in any city around the world.

But why a missed opportunity? Thats easy, its the over abundance of plastic; I know its cheaper to produce but thats the point its a cheaper look and a cheaper toy and lowers the quality of the product and frankly makes Matchbox a bit of a laughing stock when you think it was once advertised as ”The greatest name in diecast”.

I quite like the model overall but too much plastic can really detract from what could have been and should be a much greater casting.  Maybe one day Mattel will drop the ridiculous US$1 price point they have insisted on sticking to for decades and raise the price and hence raise the quality.
