Take a closer look
Sometimes it pays to take a closer look when you see a new car. Lately there has been a lot of re-releases placed in the range; specifically in the multi packs.
Now for the most part newer collectors will not notice as a lot of them havent seen the light of day in some years like the entry of the MB671 : 2005 Ford GT in polished Zamac that is part of the MBX Exotics 5 pack.

At first glance the older Matchbox collector will recognise this release from the 2009 basic range which is when we first saw this design, but is the new release the same? Well not in this case! Sure the new release is also a polished Zamac look, it has the same Double 10 Spoke wheels and dual blue stripes down the centre but its not the same.

The difference is also more than just an updated base design with newer or updated information, the colour of the stripes is distinctly different as well.

As you can see its not just the colour of the blue stripes that is different but the 2009 design also had some black pinstriping that is not as evident on the 2021 5 Pack version; it is there but with the darker blue its harder to make out. Its obvious where the Matchbox designers got their inspiration from for this release but its great to see that although similar it is in fact a different and clearly distinctive release.
